Day by Day Itinerary
DAY 1 – Abruzzo | Arrival in Sulmona
Your journey begins in Abruzzo, a region where mountains, medieval towns, and deep traditions define a landscape still largely untouched by mass tourism.
Arrive in Sulmona, an elegant town framed by mountains and known for its refined historic center and centuries-old confectionery tradition. Settle into a charming 4★ property and enjoy your first moments of stillness in the heart of the Apennines.
In the evening, a gourmet dinner within the hotel introduces you to the region’s culinary identity — simple in origin, yet rich in flavor and authenticity.
Overnight in Sulmona.
DAY 2 – Campo Imperatore | Cinema Landscapes & Medieval Fortresses
Today unfolds in one of Italy’s most cinematic landscapes: Campo Imperatore, a vast high-altitude plateau often called the “Little Tibet of Italy.” Its open horizons, shifting light, and dramatic silence have made it a natural set for major Italian and international films.
The experience continues at Rocca Calascio, one of the most iconic medieval fortresses in the country. Perched at over 1,400 meters, it offers a dramatic vantage point over endless mountain ranges and has served as a backdrop for films such as Ladyhawke and The Name of the Rose, reinforcing its almost mythical atmosphere.
The day concludes in Santo Stefano di Sessanio, a perfectly preserved stone village where time seems suspended, with narrow alleys and architectural harmony that reflect centuries of rural life in the Apennines.
Overnight in Sulmona.
DAY 3 – Sulmona & Pacentro | Tradition, Identity & Gastronomy
Discover Sulmona, a refined city of art known for its elegant architecture and its world-famous tradition of confetti craftsmanship, an artisanal heritage that has defined its identity for centuries.
A guided visit through the historic center reveals noble palaces, churches, and lively squares that reflect its historical importance within the region.
In the afternoon, the journey continues into Pacentro, a medieval village set against a dramatic mountain backdrop. Here, a gourmet dining experience elevates local traditions within one of Abruzzo’s most atmospheric settings, where stone, silence, and altitude define the mood.
Overnight in Sulmona.
DAY 4 – Valle dell’Orfento | Wild Nature & Apennine Wildlife
Today is dedicated to the wild heart of Abruzzo: the Valle dell’Orfento, a protected natural reserve where deep gorges, forests, and crystal-clear waters create one of the most pristine environments in the Apennines.
Accompanied by a specialized environmental guide, you explore trails that wind through dense woodland and canyon landscapes, home to some of Italy’s most emblematic wildlife, including the Marsican brown bear and the Apennine wolf, symbols of a fragile and powerful ecosystem.
The experience is defined by silence, observation, and immersion in nature at its most authentic.
In the evening, enjoy a refined gastronomic dinner highlighting regional ingredients and mountain culinary traditions.
Overnight in Sulmona.
DAY 5 – Costa dei Trabocchi | Sea, Tradition & Coastal Heritage
Transfer to the Adriatic coast, where Abruzzo reveals a completely different identity: the poetic and timeless Costa dei Trabocchi.
Begin in Rocca San Giovanni, a beautifully preserved medieval village overlooking the sea, followed by a visit to a local winery where Abruzzo’s coastal terroir is expressed through wine, olive oil, and traditional products.
Continue to the Abbey of San Giovanni in Venere, a Romanesque masterpiece set on a panoramic promontory overlooking the Adriatic, where architecture and landscape merge into a striking visual harmony.
The day concludes with one of the region’s most iconic experiences: dinner on a traditional trabocco, ancient wooden fishing structures suspended above the sea, where cuisine, history, and horizon meet in a uniquely atmospheric setting.
Overnight on the Costa dei Trabocchi.
DAY 6 – Costa dei Trabocchi | Private Boat Experience
A full day dedicated to the sea, exploring the Costa dei Trabocchi from a privileged perspective.
A private boat experience reveals hidden coves, historic trabocchi, and untouched stretches of coastline, where the Adriatic remains raw and authentic.
Lunch is served on board, creating a relaxed and immersive rhythm shaped by sea, light, and slow navigation.
The experience offers a different reading of Abruzzo — not from land, but from water, where its coastline reveals its most poetic dimension.
Overnight on the Costa dei Trabocchi.
DAY 7 – Vigneti d’Abruzzo & Vasto | Wine, Elegance & Coastal Heritage
Begin the day among Abruzzo’s vineyards, where a guided visit to a local winery introduces you to one of Italy’s most underrated wine regions. Tasting experiences are paired with local specialties, offering a direct connection to the land and its agricultural identity.
In the afternoon, discover Vasto, an elegant coastal town overlooking the Adriatic, where aristocratic architecture and seaside atmosphere coexist naturally.
A visit to the Castello Caldoresco highlights the city’s medieval past and its historical role as a strategic coastal settlement.
