untracked sustainability policy

This Sustainability Policy translates Untracked’s core values into a mandatory framework that guides all internal operations and external partnerships. The policy applies to all staff, suppliers, accommodations, transport providers, guides, and collaborators, and governs the design and communication of all travel products. Its application is limited only when low-impact mobility is not feasible in remote areas and always operates within national and local legal requirements.

1. A designated Sustainability Manager

She or He oversees all targets, the monitoring of supplier performance, and the enforcement of our zero-tolerance standards. We ensure full legal compliance with Italian statutes, including the Tourism Code, labour laws, and environmental regulations. Staff receive ongoing training, including through the Travelife platform, and are supported in integrating sustainability guidelines and environmental best practices into daily operations.

2. Internal Management: Social Policy and Human Rights

Untracked places people at the centre of its operations. We guarantee full compliance with Italian labour regulations (Statuto dei Lavoratori, CCNL Turismo), ensuring fair compensation, statutory rights, and safe and healthy working conditions. The company promotes inclusion and equal opportunities and prohibits all forms of discrimination. Our zero-tolerance policy strictly forbids exploitation, harassment, abuse, and corruption, particularly regarding vulnerable groups, and aligns with international standards such as UNWTO and ECPAT. Staff are supported through continuous training and are regularly updated on internal guidelines, including the “Green Rules” that guide sustainable daily practices.

3. Internal Management: Environment

Untracked is committed to reducing the environmental footprint of its internal operations. Daily office practices follow strict resource-efficiency measures, including the responsible use of energy and water, the mandatory separation of waste, and the elimination of single-use plastics. Paper consumption is minimized through digitalization and double-sided printing only when necessary. Procurement favours sustainable suppliers and certified products, and we are committed to transitioning to biodegradable materials.

4. Sustainable Transport

As transport represents our largest environmental concern, Untracked prioritizes low-impact mobility in all trip design. Our hierarchy favours trains, public transportation, bicycles or e-bikes, soft mobility, and electric or low-impact vehicles. Higher-impact options such as rental cars are used only when strictly necessary, particularly in remote or poorly served rural areas. All remaining emissions linked to transport are calculated and offset through Tree Nation. Transport partners are required to comply with safety standards, proper vehicle maintenance, and environmental expectations, and will be included in the baseline assessment of supplier sustainability performance.

In our office : We recognize mobility as one of our primary sources of environmental impact. Staff are encouraged to use public transportation, bicycles, or car-sharing, and remote or hybrid work models are promoted to reduce commuting. Business travel is limited, with flights only used when necessary for distances over 1000 km. Residual emissions from internal operations and travel are calculated and offset through our partnership with Tree Nation.

5. ENERGY MANAGEMENT

Energy efficiency is reinforced by optimized heating and cooling and by ensuring all equipment is switched off during breaks and at the end of the day. The company maintains responsible procedures for equipment disposal and has already achieved a documented 50% internal energy reduction. Land Use Our office complies fully with local and national land-use regulations. In all business activities, Untracked demonstrates respect for local cultural and natural resources by avoiding the promotion of excursions that may damage ecosystems and by prioritizing partners who follow sustainable architectural and cultural practices.

6. Supply Chain & Partners

Suppliers and partners are central to our sustainability impact. Untracked collaborates only with entities that share our core values and respect our zero-tolerance standards. We prioritize local, family-run accommodations, guides, and small businesses that protect local traditions and contribute to community well-being. We favour partners holding or pursuing environmental certifications such as Green Key or EcoLabel. A structured baseline sustainability assessment will be introduced by 2026 to monitor all suppliers, with the objective of reaching 30% certified accommodation partners by 2027. Partners are supported with access to training and environmental best practices through the Travelife platform.

7. ACCOMODATIONS AND ACTIVITIES

Accommodation choices play a significant role in social and environmental impact. Untracked prioritizes local and family-run establishments and seeks out eco-friendly structures with recognised certifications. We contribute to reducing overtourism by promoting lesser-known destinations and low-season travel. Accommodation partners must follow our ethical standards and zero-tolerance policy and will be evaluated through the upcoming sustainability assessment.

Activities offered to clients must respect nature, human dignity, and local culture. Untracked promotes slow tourism experiences such as trekking, agricultural visits, artisan workshops, and cooking lessons. Activities that exploit people, use animals in captivity, or damage the environment are strictly prohibited. Partners are selected for their alignment with our ethical principles, and clients receive guidance on responsible behaviour, including avoiding disturbance of wildlife and leaving no trace.

8. GUIDES & LOCAL REPRESENTATIVES

Local guides and representatives are essential to delivering our sustainability mission. Untracked prioritizes hiring local professionals and ensures that all guides are contracted and compensated in accordance with labour laws and non-discrimination principles. Mandatory training ensures they promote sustainable behaviour among clients and follow the company’s zero-tolerance code of conduct. Their performance is continuously monitored through internal assessments and feedback.

9. DESTINATIONS

Untracked views destinations as shared resources that must be protected. We prioritise less touristic areas and avoid locations affected by overtourism, particularly during peak seasons. Experiences are designed to support local economies by engaging local accommodations, artisans, and cooperatives. We promote activities that respect natural ecosystems and educate clients on responsible behaviour. The company collaborates with public institutions to support sustainable planning and maintains a sustainability register for the destinations in which it operates.

10. CUSTOMER COMMUNICATION AND PROTECTION

Untracked is committed to transparent and ethical communication. All information provided to clients, from initial quotes to follow-up, is accurate and coherent with the real experience offered. Clients receive guidance on reducing environmental impact, respecting local customs, minimizing plastic use, and avoiding illegal souvenirs. We ensure full compliance with GDPR and protect customer data through secure handling procedures. The safety and well-being of travellers are upheld through clear assistance protocols and strict enforcement of our zero-tolerance policy, particularly toward vulnerable groups.

11. GOVERNANCE AND RESPONSABILITY

All staff share responsibility for applying this Sustainability Policy. Its implementation is led by the Sustainability Manager, Morgane Delpirou, supported by key personnel and guided by the company’s Action Plan. The policy takes effect on 25/10/2025, was last revised on 16/10/2025, and will undergo its next scheduled review on 16/10/2026.
